تقدم تستنكر الفيتو الروسي بمجلس الأمن وتقول أنه يشكل غطاءً لاستمرار المذابح في السودان

عقد مجلس الأمن الدولي اليوم الاثنين ١٨ نوفمبر ٢٠٢٤م جلسة خاصة حول السودان، ناقش فيها مشروع قرار قدمته كل من بريطانيا وسيراليون، تضمن نصوصًا تدعو لوقف الحرب في السودان وإدانة الانتهاكات ومحاسبة الجناة وتوصيل المساعدات الإنسانية وتنفيذ إعلان جدة. استخدمت روسيا حق النقض وصوتت ضد القرار، في حين صوت لصالحه كافة أعضاء المجلس الـ١٤ المتبقين.
إننا في تنسيقية القوى الديمقراطية المدنية “تقدم” نشيد بالجهد الذي بذلته بريطانيا وسيراليون في صياغة مشروع القرار، كما نشكر كافة الدول الأعضاء الأربعة عشر التي صوتت لصالحه، وندعوهم لمواصلة السعي للمساهمة في وقف الحرب وحماية المدنيين وتوصيل المساعدات الإنسانية في السودان.
نعرب عن عميق استنكارنا للموقف الروسي الذي يشكل غطاءً لاستمرار المذابح في السودان، ويعيق جهود التصدي لأكبر مأساة إنسانية في العالم، ويترك الشعب السوداني يرزح تحت شبح الجوع والمرض والفقر. استخدمت روسيا حق النقض لإسقاط قرار حظي بموافقة ممثلي القارة الأفريقية الثلاثة في مجلس الأمن، وهو ما يكذّب ادعاءها بالانحياز لقضايا دول الجنوب وشعوبها.
إننا في “تقدم” نرى أن الاهتمام رفيع المستوى والإجماع العالمي الذي شهدته جلسة مجلس الأمن اليوم -والتي شذت عنها دولة واحدة فقط- يمثل بارقة أمل للسودانيين بأن العالم قد بدأ يستشعر حجم الكارثة التي تمر بها بلادنا، وأنه على استعداد للمساعدة في تحقيق السلام في السودان. ونؤكد أننا أكثر عزمًا على مواصلة السعي الدؤوب لرفع المعاناة عن شعبنا بكل السبل، وسنواصل جهودنا داخل وخارج السودان لإنهاء الحرب ومعالجة آثارها بصورة شاملة ومنصفة.

Statement by the General Secretariat of the Coordination-body of The Democratic & Civil Forces ” Taqaddum”
The United Nations Security Council held a special session today, Monday, November 18, 2024, to discuss Sudan. During the session, Britain and Sierra Leone presented a draft resolution. The resolution included provisions calling for an end to the war in Sudan, condemnation of human rights violations, accountability for perpetrators, delivery of humanitarian aid, and implementation of the Jeddah Declaration. Russia exercised its veto power and voted against the resolution, while all 14 remaining council members voted in favor.
We, in the Coordination-body of The Democratic & Civil Forces “Taqaddum,” commend the efforts made by Britain and Sierra Leone in drafting the resolution. We also extend our gratitude to all 14 member states that voted in favor and urge them to continue their endeavors to help end the war, protect civilians, and deliver humanitarian aid in Sudan.
We express our resounding condemnation of Russia’s position, which serves as a cover for the continuation of massacres in Sudan, obstructs efforts to address the world’s worst humanitarian disaster, and leaves the Sudanese people grappling with hunger, disease, and poverty. Russia’s use of the veto to block a resolution endorsed by the three African representatives on the Security Council exposes the falsity of its claims of support for the causes of the Global South and its peoples.
We in “Taqadum” view the high-level attention and global consensus witnessed during today’s Security Council session—regrettably blocked by one country in the contraction of its responsibilities toward international peace and security—as a glimmer of hope for the Sudanese people. It signifies that the world is beginning to comprehend the magnitude of the catastrophe unfolding in our country and stands ready to help achieve peace in Sudan.
We affirm our unwavering determination to continue tirelessly working to alleviate the suffering of our people through all available means. We will persist in our efforts, both inside and outside Sudan, to end the war and address its consequences in a comprehensive and just manner.
