On Friday, 29 March, 2019, the News Club of London organized a cultural symposium on English language education in the Sudan by a voluntary organization called the Sudan voluntary programme, in which Professor Ahmed Badri presented a valuable lecture to introduce this important programme, which opens the way forward to Sudanese youth and provides them with opportunities to work in international organizations, Gulf States and others, rather than to risk choosing illegal migration to work outside the Sudan.
Professor Ahmed Pedre presented his lecture at which he was present and thanked them for attending and for their interest in teaching English language for young people:
I am pleased to present to you a brief overview of the Sudan voluntary programme.
Programme -SVP. Sudan Volun teer
Established in November 1996 at the initiative of David Walton, Saddam Mahlib Ali Tah, Samah Mahmoud Saleh, Ihmed Badri and Sami Mudtar Abdul Rahim, and the politician meeting was held at the house of Razali Yusuf Feld and his wife, Princess Omar Karni, in north-west London.
The programme was registered as a voluntary organization in the British Charities Commission ' s clinics with a view to revitalizing and supporting English-language education in the Sudan, for which UNV sends volunteers of both sexes who consider English as their first language.
Since its inception, the programme has been dependent on the contributions of only 5 members per month and more than 300 members, mostly non-Sudanese; for 22 years SVP has not requested any financial grant from any quarter; it has succeeded in generating more than 340 British volunteers from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America and from European and African origins, of whom it is proud to have involved volunteers from Sudanese families.
