على هامش القمة التى استضافها الاتحاد الاوربي حول الاوضاع في الصومال. قامت السيدة كاثرين أشتون نائب رئيس المفوضية الاوربية ومفوضة العلاقات الخارجية الاوربية باستضافة اجتماع بين وزيرى خارجية السودان وجنوب السودان تم مناقشة قضايا السلام والتنمية ودور الاتحاد الاوربي في الفترة القادمة. ورحبت السيدة كاثرين أشتون بنتائج زيارة سلفاكير للخرطوم. حيث أكدت على دعم الاتحاد الاوربي للسلام وحسن الجوار بين السودان وجنوب السودان. وأضافت أن الاتحاد الاوربي يتطلع الى تطبيق كل الاتفاقيات الموقعة بين السودان وجنوب السودان لتحقيق لاستقرار لاايجاد فرص للتنمية المستدامة.
وقد شارك وزيرى خارجية السودان وجنوب السودان في المؤتمر الدولى حول الصومال والذى تعهد فيه الاتحاد الاوربي بدفع 650 مليون يورو لصالح مشروعات السلام وبناء الدولة في الصومال.
European Union hosts a meeting for the foreign ministers of Sudan and South Sudan
On the sidelines of the summit hosted by the European Union (EU) on the situation in Somalia. Catherine Ashton, Vice-president and high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policyreceived both the foreign ministers of Sudan and South Sudan Mr. Ali Ahmed Karti and Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin to discuss the issues of peace and development and the role of the EU in the coming period.
During the meeting, Catherine Ashton welcomed the results of Salva Kiir’s visit to Khartoum and confirmed the EU’s support for peace and good neighborly relations between Sudan and South Sudan. She added that the EU looks forward to the implementation of all the agreements signed between the two countries to achieve stability for finding opportunities for sustainable development.
The Sudanese and South Sudanese Foreign Ministers participated in the international conference on Somalia in which the European Union pledged 650 million Euros for peace and state building projects in Somalia.
