أصدر الاتحاد الاوروبي بيانا اشار فيه الى أن التوقيع على اتفاق بشأن مشروع سد النهضة الكبرى الاثيوبي بين مصر وإثيوبيا والسودان والذى وقع في العاصمة السودانية الخرطوم بأنه يمثل مبادرة سياسية هامة لإدارة مياه النيل. وأضاف البيان أن الاتحاد الاوروبي يؤيد دائما نتيجة عادلة من شأنها أن تمكن استخدام مياه النيل لتطوير الجميع حيث يعتمد عليها الملايين من الناس في حياتهم وسبل عيشهم.
وأضاف الاتحاد الاوروبي أن هذا الاتفاق هو جزء من عملية من شأنها أن تعزز بشكل كبير من احتمالات الرخاء والاستقرار للمنطقة.
أن الاتحاد الأوروبي مستعد لتقديم الدعم حيث تتحرك الاطراف الآن إلى مرحلة هامة لتنفيذ الاتفاق والذى تم التوصل إليه في الخرطوم.
يذكر ان سفير الاتحاد الاوروبي توماس يوليشنى حضر حفل التوقيع بالقصر الجمهوري ممثلا عن الاتحاد الاوروبي.

The signature of the agreement regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Project (GERDP) by Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan yesterday in Khartoum marks an important political initiative for the management of the Nile Waters.
The European Union has always supported an equitable outcome that would enable the waters of the Nile – on which millions of people depend for their life and livelihoods – to be used for the development of all.
This agreement is part of a process that will greatly enhance the prospects of prosperity and stability for the region. The EU stands ready to provide support as the parties now move to the important phase of implementing the agreement reached in Khartoum.
