الاتحاد الأوروبي يحتفل باليوم العالمي للمعاقين في السودان

قام سفير الاتحاد الاوروبي في السودان توماس يوليشني بزيارة لدار شيشير للمعقين بالخرطوم للمشاركة في الاحتفالات باليوم العالمي للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة والذى يوافق 3 ديسمبر. قام سفير الاتحاد الاوروبي بلقاء مجموعة من المعاقين والتعرف على تجربتهم في تحدى الاعاقة و مدى الاستفادة من تمويل الاتحاد الأوروبي في هذا المجال.
وقال سفير الاتحاد الاوروبي ان الهدف من حضوري هو تعميق فهمي بقضايا وهموم الإعاقة وتعبئة الدعم لها و لكرامة وحقوق ورفاه الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة. وأضاف اننا جميعا نطمح في زيادة الوعي من المكاسب التي يمكن جنيها من إدماج الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة في كل جانب من الحياة السياسية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية والثقافية. وقال السفير توماس ان هناك حوالي أكثر من 1 مليار شخص من سكان العالم يعيشون مع واحد أو أكثر من الإعاقات. وغالبا ما يواجهون عوائق مختلفة لإمكاناتهم الكاملة. وهنأ السفير توماس حكومة السودان على التصديق على اتفاقية حقوق الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة. وقال “أود هنا أن أحث الحكومة على مواصلة جهودها الناجحة وتعزيز السياسات الوطنية والتشريعات والإجراءات الرامية إلى تعزيز حقوق ورفاه الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة وادماجهم في المجتمع بشكل كامل”. وعلاوة على ذلك هنأ السفير توماس المنظمات غير الحكومية والمجتمع المدني السوداني على العمل الذي يقومون به من أجل تحسين حياة ذوي الإعاقة ورفع الوعي وتحسين السياسات. وقال شرف لي أن أشارك في حفل الافتتاح الرسمي للمشروع الممول من كل دول الاتحاد الاوروبي لا إعادة تأهيل وبناء قدرات ذوى الاعاقة حيث ساهم الاتحاد الأوروبي لنسبيا بمبلغ إجمالي قدره اربعمائة الف يورو. ومن المتوقع أن يستفيد حوالى 20،000 إلى 22،000 طفل معاق وأمهاتهم من المشروع.
European Union celebrates International Day for Disability
Ambassador Tomas Ulicny, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sudan visited the Khartoum Cheshire Home (KCH) to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities December 3rd. At the center the European Union Ambassador met with the persons with disabilities benefiting from the EU funding and toured the center to be informed on the services provided and the challenges it faces to serve persons with disabilities.
During the visit, European Union diplomat said my objective for coming today it to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. Ambassador Tomas said approximately over 1 billion people of the world population live with one or more disabilities. They often face various barriers to their full potential. Ambassador Tomas congratulated the Government of Sudan for ratifying the Convention on the Rights of Person with Disabilities. “I would like here to urge the Government to continue its successful efforts and promote national polices, legislations and actions to promote the rights and wellbeing of disabled people “He said. Furthermore Ambassador Tomas congratulated the Sudanese NGOs and Civil Society on the work they do to improve the lives of peoples with Disability and to raise awareness of the rights of people with disability and improve policy. It is also an honor for me to participate in the official opening ceremony of the Project Promotion of Community Based Rehabilitation Programs of Disabled Persons in Khartoum & Gezira States in Sudan which was implemented in partnership with Khartoum Cheshire Home, where the EU has contributed to relatively a total amount of 323,982.00.Euros.
The newly launched EU project is expected to bring awareness to rights of the people with disability and to empower them. It is expected that About 20,000 to 22,000 disabled children and their mothers/caregivers, both girls and boys will benefit from the center every year.
