التقى البروفيسور إبراهيم غندور، مساعد رئيس الجمهورية وفدا زائرا من الاتحاد الأوروبي برئاسة السفير الكسندر روندووز، الممثل الخاص للاتحاد الأوروبي لمنطقة القرن الأفريقي في مكتبه بالقصر الجمهوري. كما استقبل السيد علي أحمد كرتي وزير الخارجية وفد الاتحاد الاوروبي الزائر وبحث العلاقات الثنائية مع الاتحاد الأوروبي. في كلا الاجتماعين، أطلع الدبلوماسيون ألاوروبيون عن جهود السودان في تنفيذ عملية الحوار الوطني ومحادثات السلام في أديس أبابا.
وكانت بعثة الاتحاد الاوروبي في الخرطوم قد أعلنت في وقت سابق أن زيارة الدبلوماسيين الاوربيون للخرطوم هي جزء من وفد أكبر حضر للسودان للمشاركة في المؤتمر إلاقليمي حول الاتجار بالبشر والذى تستضيفه العاصمة السودانية الخرطوم هذه الايام. وقد أكد السفير الكسندر روندووز عن ترحيب الاتحاد الأوروبي لجهود السودان في مكافحة الاتجار بالبشر من خلال استضافة المؤتمر وأن الاتحاد الأوروبي سعيد لتمويل المؤتمر الذي نظمته المنظمة الدولية للهجرة (IOM).
في نهاية الاجتماع، أبلغ سفير الاتحاد الأوروبي توماس يوليشني الصحفيين أن وفد الاتحاد الأوروبي متنوع من مختلف التخصصات حيث وصلوا إلى الخرطوم والتقوا مع نظرائهم السودانيين في اجتماعات مختلفة حول مختلف القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك “.” وأضاف سفير الاتحاد الاوروبي ناقشنا مع الجميع أهمية تدشين الحوار السوداني الاوروبي والعمل على تعزيز التعاون الإنساني والتنموى مع السودان “لقد دعونا السودان إلى تكثيف عمليات الحوار والمصالحة الوطنية، وتعزيز حماية حقوق الإنسان وتحقيق الاستقرار لبناء السلام في القرن الأفريقي ” أضاف السفير توماس.
European Union encourages Sudan to step up the national dialogue and peace processes
Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour, Assistant to the President of the Republic, received a European Union delegation presided by Ambassador Alexander Rondos, European Union Special Representative (EUSR) to the Horn of Africa at his office in the Republican Palace. Earlier, Ali Ahmed Karti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had received the visiting delegation and discussed the bilateral relations with the European Union. In both meetings, the European diplomats were briefed about Sudan’s efforts to implement the processes of national dialogue and peace talks in Addis Ababa.
The Delegation of the European Union to Sudan announced earlier that the visiting diplomats are part of a bigger delegation that attended the regional conference on human trafficking hosted by Sudan. At the meeting Ambassador Alexander Rondos conveyed the European Union’s welcoming of Sudan’s efforts to combat human trafficking by hosting the conference and stated that the European Union is glad to sponsor the funding of the event organized by the International Organization on Migration (IOM).
At the end of the meeting, European Union Ambassador Tomas Ulicny informed the press that a big European Union delegation with wide interests arrived to Khartoum and is engaged with the Sudanese counterparts in different meetings on various issues of mutual concern. “We discussed with all stakeholders the importance of a political European – Sudanese dialogue and how to make our humanitarian and development cooperation more effective in Sudan”. “We called on Sudan to step up the national dialogue and reconciliation processes, strengthen the protection of human rights and to achieve stability to build peace in the Horn of Africa”, Ambassador Tomas Ulicny said.
