رئيس اليوناميد يلتقي بالرئيس اليوغندي
كمـــــبالا، 16 فـــبراير 2014 – التقى الممثل الخاص المشترك للإتحاد الإفريقي والأمم المتحدة في دارفور وكبير الوسطاء المشترك، محمد بن شمباس، بالرئيس اليوغـــندي يوري موسيفيني في 12 فبراير 2014 خلال زيارته ليوغندا التي إستغرقت ثلاثة أيام في إطار جهود الممثل الخاص المشترك لحشد الدعم الإقليمي للتوصل إلى إتفاق سلام شامل في دارفور. وأطلع رئيس اليونامــــيد الرئيس اليوغـــندي على التواصل مع حركات دارفور غير الموقعة حتى الآن بغرض إقناعها للإنضمام للعملية السلمية للتوصل لتسوية سياسية للنزاع في دارفور، بما في ذلك ورشة العمل التي أُقيمت حول وقف العدائيات لأسباب إنسانية في أديس أبابا في شهر ديسمبر الماضي والمشاورات التي أجراها الممثل الخاص المشترك مع قادة الحركات الرئيسية مؤخرا في 10 فبراير 2014 في كمـــبالا. وقد أشار الرئيس موسيفيني إلى أهمية تحقيق سلام دائم في دارفور وأكّد دعمة لمبادرات شمباس .
وقال الممثل الخاص المشترك: “إنّ المشاركة مع اليونامـــــــــيد والدعم المستمر من الرئيس موسيفيني ودولة يوغندا وعمل الوساطة يمثل إعترافاً بأنّ تحقيق سلام دائم في دارفور سيعود بالفائدة ليس فقط للشعب السوداني وإنما سيسهم أيضاً في المزيد من الإستقرار في المنطقة ككل.”

UNAMID’s Head meets Ugandan President
Kampala, 16 February 2014—African Union-United Nations Joint Special Representative/Joint Chief Mediator Mohamed Ibn Chambas met with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on 12 February during a three-day visit to the country, as part of the JSR’s efforts to mobilize regional support for an inclusive peace agreement in Darfur.
The Head of UNAMID apprised the Ugandan President of his engagements with the hold-out Darfur movements so far to bring them on board for a political settlement of the conflict in Darfur; these engagements included a workshop on humanitarian cessation of hostilities held in Addis Ababa last December and consultations with leaders of key movements earlier on 10 February in Kampala. President Museveni noted the importance of a durable peace for Darfur and assured Mr. Chambas of his support for his initiatives.
“The continued engagement and support by President Museveni and Uganda to UNAMID and to the work of the Mediation is an indication that achieving a durable peace in Darfur benefits not only the Sudanese people, but also contributes to greater stability for the entire region,” JSR Chambas stated.
