سفير الاتحاد الأوروبي يدعو إلى قدر أكبر من المساءلة ويثني على دور المرأة السودانية

بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للمرأة، استقبل سفير الاتحاد الأوروبي توماس يوليشني ممثلين عن المجتمع المدني ونشطاء في حقوق الإنسان لمناقشة قضية حقوق المرأة في مناطق النزاعات حيث يستمر القتال الدائر في دارفور وجنوب كردفان والنيل الأزرق والذى تسبب في معاناة السكان المدنيين، وبخاصة النساء والأطفال”، وقال السفير توماس يوليشني أن النساء في السودان يلعبون دورا هاما في منع وحل الصراعات، ومفاوضات السلام، وعمليات حفظ السلام، والعمل الانساني وإعادة الإعمار والتنمية في مرحلة ما بعد الصراع. ,وأضاف سفير الاتحاد الاوروبي أن الاحتفال بمرور 15 عاما منذ اعتماد قرار مجلس الأمن الدولي 1325 بشأن المرأة والسلام والأمن، فأن المرأة السودانية هي مصدر إلهام للنساء في أوروبا وحول العالم “.
وأضاف سفير الاتحاد الاوروبي قلقه من المزاعم المتكررة حول العنف الجنسي في مناطق النزاع وأعرب عن متابعته للتغييرات الأخيرة في القانون الجنائي حول جرائم الاغتصاب والتحرش الجنسي. ” وقال السفير توماس ان هذه خطوة مهمة لحماية حقوق النساء والفتيات في السودان. ونحن نتوقع أن نرى التنفيذ الكامل لهذه الأحكام لضمان حصول الضحايا لحقوقهم وتقدم الوصول إلى العدالة ومحاسبة الجناة.”
ان الاتحاد الاوروبي يعزز حقوق المرأة من خلال دعم عدة منظمات نسائية في السودان في مجالات حقوق المرأة الاقتصادية، فضلا عن المشاركة السياسية والقيادة وتعليم الفتيات وتوفير المساعدة القانونية للنساء. وأضاف ان الاتحاد الاوروبي يسعى جاهدا لوضع حد لجميع أشكال العنف ضد المرأة، بما في ذلك الممارسات التقليدية الضارة مثل ختان الإناث. ان الاتحاد الأوروبي يساهم أيضا في تحسين صحة الأمهات وتوفير الخدمات النفسية والطبية للناجين من العنف القائم على نوع الجنس في دارفور.
European Union Ambassador calls for greater accountability and praises the role of Sudanese women
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the European Union Ambassador Tomas Ulicny met with civil society and human rights activists to discuss the issue of women in conflict. “The ongoing fighting in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile continues to cause suffering for the civilian population, in particular women and children,” Ambassdor Ulicny said. “At the same time, women in Sudan have an important role in the prevention and resolution of conflicts, peace negotiations, peacekeeping, humanitarian response and in post-conflict reconstruction and development. As we mark 15 years since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, Sudanese women are an inspiration to the women in Europe and around the world.”
Ambassador Ulicny also expressed concern over repeated allegations of sexual violence in conflict zones and took careful note of the recent changes in the Criminal Law which for the first time defines the crimes of rape and sexual harassment. “This is an important step to protect the rights of women and girls in Sudan. We expect to see full implementation of these provisions to ensure that victims are provided with access to justice and perpetrators held to account.”
Through support to several women’s organisations in Sudan, the European Union promotes women’s economic rights as well as political participation and leadership. The EU funds girls’ education, legal aid for women, and strives to end all forms of violence against women, including harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM). The EU also contributes to the improvement of maternal health and the provision of psycho-medical services to survivors of gender-based violence in Darfur.
