عبرت بعثة الاتحاد الاوروبي في السودان، وسفارات دول الاتحاد الاوروبي المقيمة في السودان وسفارة النرويج في السودان عن قلقهم جميعا إزاء حبس الدكتورة مريم الصادق المهدي، نائب رئيس حزب الأمة القومي. حيث اعتقلت الدكتورة مريم الصادق المهدي لدى وصولها إلى مطار الخرطوم الدولي في 12 اغسطس وورد نقلها إلى سجن النساء في أم درمان. أن دعوة مجموعات واسعة من الجهات الفاعلة في المجتمع الذى تم في 10 أغسطس دعت الى بناء الثقة والمساهمة في الحوار الوطني السوداني.
أن بعثة الاتحاد الاوروبي، وسفارات الدول الاوروبية وسفارة النرويج يذكروا بأن اعتقال القيادات السياسية ونشطاء المجتمع المدني تذهب ضد روح الخطاب الوطني المفتوح والشامل ويدعو الى اطلاق سراح الدكتورة مريم الصادق المهدي.
European Union and Norway call for release of the political leader Dr. Meriam al Mahdi

The Delegation of the European Union, the resident EU Member States Embassies and the Embassy of Norway in Khartoum express their concern about the imprisonment of Dr. Meriam Al Sadig al Mahdi, Vice President of the Umma National Party. Dr. Meriam al Mahdi was detained upon her arrival at Khartoum International Airport on 12 August and reportedly transferred to Women’s Prison in Omdurman.
A broad set of community actors have been invited to build confidence and contribute to the Sudanese national dialogue on 10 August.
The Embassies of the European Union and Norway recall that detentions of political leaders and civil society activists go against the spirit of an open and inclusive national discourse and call for Dr Meriam to be released.
