في الاجتماع العادي في 13 مايو للدبلوماسيين الاوروبيون في الاتحاد الأوروبي والدول الأعضاء في الخرطوم تم مناقشة تطورات القتال بين القبائل في أبو كارينكا في ولاية شرق دارفور والتي نتج عنها خسائر في الأرواح، والعديد من الإصابات وموجة جديدة من النزوح.
أكد الدبلوماسيون الأوروبيون قلقهم البالغ إزاء القتال المتوقع والذى يقوض كذلك الوضع الأمني والاستقرار في دارفور.
ودعا الدبلوماسيين الاوربيون جميع الأطراف المعنية على تعزيز جهودها لتهدئة الوضع، وحماية المدنيين من الأذى والعمل على الوساطة لإيجاد حلول سلمية دائمة تحل جذور النزاع.
كما حثوا القادة الدينيين والقيادات التقليدية السودانية والمجتمع المدني على العمل لتعزيز جهود الوساطة المبذولة.
كما أعرب الدبلوماسيون الأوروبيون دعمهم الكامل لطلب المنظمات الإنسانية الدولية في سرعة توفير السماح وعدم عرقلة دورهم وتمكينهم لمساعدة المحتاجين.
EU concerned about violence, calls for calm and humanitarian access in East Darfur

At a meeting of EU diplomats on 13 May the inter-tribal fighting at Abu-Karinka in East Darfur was discussed. The fighting caused loss of lives, many injuries and a new wave of displacement.
The European diplomats are deeply concerned about the resumption of fighting which was foreseeable and further undermines the security and stability situation in Darfur.
They called on the parties to refrain from fighting and urged the authorities to protect civilians from harm, strengthen their efforts to appease the situation and complete a peaceful and enduring solution to the roots of the conflict. They also urged the Sudanese religious and traditional leaders and civil society to speak up, act and assist the mediation efforts.
The European diplomats expressed full support to the request of humanitarian organizations to be given immediate and unhindered access to enable them to assist people in need.
