The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs deeply regretted the announcement by the United States Department of Foreign Affairs that the Sudan should be reinstated on a list of countries of particular concern, in its periodic report on religious freedoms.
The Sudanese Foreign Affairs said that this declaration contradicts many of the many symbols and leaders of world religious institutions, most notably the Canterbury Archbishop, the Commissioner for Religious Freedoms of the European Union, a delegation of the American Congress, a visit to the American Foreign Religious Commissioner and the President of the Ethiopian Church, who visited the Church of the South Community and declared its praise for the levels of security, freedom and respect for the rights of Christians.
The statement added that this "openness and reception of these visiting delegations confirms the Sudan ' s trust and belief in a long history of coexistence and tolerance between religions and races and a long, thousands of years old civilization".
According to the State, the Sudan embraces " 844 churches that supervise 319 educational establishments as well as 173 cultural and health centres and are seen by churches that cross the ears and spread across many parts of the Sudan " .
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on its American counterpart " in the light of the constructive engagement between the two countries to review its negative declaration and to bring justice to the country, which hosts millions of refugees without asking for their religion and freely practise their religious rites " .
