الفاشر، 19 سبتمبر 2014 – أعلن الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، بان كي مون ورئيسة الاتحاد الافريقي، نكوسازانا دلاميني زوما ، في 17 سبتمبر الجاري عن تعيين أبيدون اوليريمي باشوا، النيجيريي الجنسية ، نائبا للمثل الخاص المشترك ببعثة الاتحاد الافريقي والامم المتحدة في دارفور ( اليوناميد). ويتمتع السيد باشوا بخبرة ثرية عن الأوضاع في دارفور والسودان ككل، حيث عمل باليوناميد منذ أغسطس 2009 في عدة وظائف قيادية عليا كرئيس لقسم الشوؤن السياسية واخيرا رئيساً للآلية المشتركة للدعم والتنسيق. وللسيد باشوا خبرات ثرية بالعديد من عمليات حفظ السلام في افريقيا مثل ساحل العاج ، ليبريا ، سيراليون والسودان (أونميس) ، كما عمل سكرتيرا لمؤتمرأطراف ميثاق الامم المتحدة الإطاري حول التغيرات المناخية .
هذا وقد حل السيد باشوا محل سَلفه السيد جوزيف موتابوبا الذي كان قد ترك البعثة في شهر يونيو 2014 بعد أن أكمل مدة خدمته كنائب للمثل الخاص المشترك.

Abiodun Oluremi Bashua of Nigeria appointed UNAMID Deputy Joint Special Representative
El Fasher, 19 September 2014 – The Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission announced on 17 September 2014 the appointment of Abiodun Oluremi Bashua, a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as Deputy Joint Special Representative of the African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID).
Mr. Bashua brings to the position a wealth of knowledge on Darfur, and Sudan as a whole. He has served in UNAMID since August 2009 at various senior levels, and has extensive experience in United Nations peacekeeping operations in Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Sudan (UNMIS). He has also served as Secretary to the Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Mr. Bashua replaces Mr. Joseph Mutaboba who left the Mission in June 2014 having completed his assignment as Deputy JSR.
