تعبر اليونسيف عن قلقها لان الأطفال أصبحوا ضحايا للتصعيد الذي حدث مؤخراً في المناطق المحيطة بجبل مرة في ولايات وسط وشمال دارفور. وتشير التقديرات إلى إن اكثر من 60 في المائة من المتأثرين الذين يبلغ عددهم 10,415 هم من الأطفال. وقد شهد الوضع مزيدا من التفاقم نتيجة للظروف المناخية القاسية التي سادت مؤخراً، فقد انخفضت درجات الحرارة خلال الأسبوعين الماضيين من معدلاتها الشتوية المعتادة التي تبلغ 22 درجة مئوية الى 4 درجات في بعض أنحاء البلاد، مما جعل الأطفال، خاصة النازحين الجدد، من اكثر المتأثرين بموجة البرد.
وبالإضافة الى ذلك، تفشى مرض الحصبة في ولايتي كسلا والقضارف في شرق السودان. وبحلول الخامس عشر من يناير، تأثرت 12 محلية بالوباء وبلغ عدد حالات الإصابة المؤكدة 593 حالة، غالبيتها من الأطفال دون سن الخامسة. واليوم، بدات وزارات الصحة الاتحادية والولائية ، بالتعاون مع اليونسيف، ومنظمة الصحة العالمية، وأطباء بلا حدود، حملة تحصين تستمر لمدة أسبوع (19-24 يناير) للتصدي للوباء. وتستهدف الحملة مليون طفل من سن 6 اشهر الى سن 15 سنة.
وقد صرح قيرت كابيليري، ممثل اليونسيف “ان عام 2015 ليس بداية سعيدة لآلاف الأطفال في السودان لأنهم أصبحوا، للأسف، ضحايا مرتين: للنزاعات من جهة، ولضعف التنمية المزمن من جهة اخرى”.
وتهيب اليونسيف بجميع أطراف النزاع في السودان وقف القتال وضمان سلامة الأطفال في كل الأوقات، كما تدعو اليونسيف الى تيسير الوصول والاستفادة من الخدمات الاجتماعية الاساسية وجعل الاستثمار فيها أولوية قصوى.
وإضافة لجهوده المنقذة للحياة في قطاعات التغذية والصحة والمياه والصرف الصحي والحماية، قدمت اليونسيف، بالتعاون مع المجلس الولائي لرعاية الطفولة، 16,250 بطانية للمجتمعات الأكثر تأثرا بالنزوح الذي تم مؤخراً.

UNICEF calls for an end to conflict and investment in basic social services for children in Sudan
with some 6,000 children displaced due to the recent conflict and hundreds at risk from measles outbreak
Khartoum, 19th January 2015: UNICEF expresses grave concern that children are increasingly becoming victims in the recent spike in conflict in areas around Jebel Mara in Central and North Darfur States. It is estimated that over sixty per cent of the verified 10,415 affected persons are children.
The situation has been worsened by the recent inclement cold weather. Over the last two weeks, temperatures significantly dropped from the usual twenty two degrees celsius in winter to as low as four degrees in some parts of the country, with children, especially the newly displaced, being amongst the worst affected.
Furthermore, there has been an outbreak of measles in the Gedarif and Kassala States in eastern Sudan. As of 15th January, twelve localities have been affected with 593 confirmed cases, the majority being children under five years. Today, the Ministry of Health at Federal and State level, in collaboration with UNICEF, WHO and MSF launched a week long vaccination campaign, 19th – 24th January, to address the outbreak. One million children between the ages of 6 months – 15 years will be targeted in the campaign.
“2015 is not a happy start for thousands of children in Sudan, as they are unfortunately double victims of the parallel realities of conflict and chronic underdevelopment,” says UNICEF’s Representative Geert Cappelaere.
UNICEF again strongly urges all parties to the conflict in Sudan to stop the fighting, and guarantee at all times, the safety of all children. UNICEF also calls for unhindered access to and prioritised investment in basic social services at all levels.
In addition to its regular lifesaving response in the nutrition, health water, sanitation and protection sectors, UNICEF in collaboration with the State Council for Child Welfare, has provided 16,000 blankets to communities most affected by the recent displacement.
