غرد السفير روبرت فان دن دول ، رئيس بعثة الاتحاد الأوربي في السودان:

اليوم يوم حزين بالنسبة للسودان.

تعرب بعثة الاتحاد الاوربي وسفارات الدول الاعضاء بالاتحاد الأوربي عن خالص تعازيها لشعب وحكومة السودان، ولأعضاء وأنصار حزب الأمة القومي في وفاة فخامة الامام الصادق الصديق عبد الرحمن المهدي رئيس وزراء السودان الاسبق.

كان المهدي رجل دولة، وشخصية دينية، ومفكر، وداعم للمدنية، وحقوق الإنسان، والحوار بين الأديان، والديمقراطية في السودان. كان صديقا لأوربا والسلام والعالم. في كل ظروف السراء والضراء، أظهر الامام المهدي قوة وارادة قوية نحو تحقيق قضاياه النبيلة .

اليوم خواطرنا وصلواتنا من اجل عائلته وكل افراد الشعب السوداني.

“Today is a sad day for Sudan. The European Union and it member states embassies express their sincere condolences to the people and government of Sudan, to the members and the supporters of the Umma National Party on the death of H.E. Al Imam Al Sadig Al Sideeg Abdel Rahman Al Mahdi, the former Prime Minister of Sudan.

Al Mahdi was a great statesman, religious figure, thinker and supporter of civilian, human rights, interfaith dialogue and democracy in Sudan. He was a friend of Europe, peace and the world. Through good times and bad, he showed the power of a strong will applied to a worthy cause. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the Sudanese people.”
