This giant river I acquainted to a long time ago when we were an intermediate school students learning geography of the new world ..The Mississippi still we argue whether it’s the longest river worldwide or the Nile or the Cngo?!
I recall that Ustaz Abdallah ( nicknamed Abu Addal ) due to his well built body with the muscles projected magnificently under the shirt short sleeves . Abu Addal taught Geography masterfully , drawing maps artistically , keeping telling the magics of the new word with suspence of film shows, but when it comes to comparison between the two mighty rivers , the Nile and the Mississippi as per their length , he , without any hesitation declares that the Nile is the longest not than the Mississippi put also longer than the Congo all together .
In the year 2013 , for the first time my feet touched the soil of Minneapolis the twins city of Saint Pole , only separated by our old friend the Mississippi which we first studied in the sixties of the last century .
At a glance viewing the so called the king of rivers , my eyes pictured a series of bridges each one is charmer than the other , it’s banks stretch widely mking the area as one of the finest panorama , ideally attractive to journey makers who intend to enjoy themselves with the beautiful place giving all the luxury they seek along with peace , happiness and tranquility.
My dream is that Omdurman and Khartoum North be realistically twins , their banks positively engineered to obey the needs of campers and journey makers enjoining having Marvellous moments at its broad extended banks .
Let’s all avoid negativies and discrepancies that accompanied the two banks of the Nile at both Omdurman and Khartoum North , no need to make the area as a point of car wash, or a kiln to burn green bricks to transform them to red ones , boat manufacturers occupy vast areas to practice their job without reservation or consideration to the especiality of the area which should be soley allocated for the citizens to make fun and feel free form burden of life . also there should not be any kind of swimming that is out of order , anti to rules of ethics and the etiquette .
We conclude with that , the Mississippi stems from Minnesota , flows along North America from East to West to have it’s mouth at the Mexican Gulf .
Manisota facinates it’s visitors with a copenation of industrial and agricultural face . It has a striking resemblance with the Gezira Province in Sudan .
People there are as generous as Sudanese , they are cooperative and welcomers to outsiders live with them in peace away from any ethnicity or colour bar .
